MBLAQ Needs Some Tissues for "Cry"

MBLAQ rarely disappoints me. I don't think they ever have, to be honest. I love all their videos, I love their songs ... and "Cry" is no different.

From beginning to end, this was a beautiful music video. The choreography was excellent (of course, because Rain choreographed it), the song is so depressingly beautiful and their vocals deliver that heartache and longing to your ears. To have that ability, to make someone feel your pain through your voice ... that's such an amazing gift.

It seems like the general consensus of this MV is that it's perfect except for the make-up. And I have to throw in the clothes into the bonfire too. We all know that MBLAQ hasn't had the nicest of stylists in the past. Sometimes they hit it dead on and get gold stars all across the board. Other times they fall really, really, insanely short.

Thunder ... he's kind of all over the place. Hair, ehhh not really the best color on him, but it's been much worse so he is improving. And he should have ditched those necklaces because they just look so odd with that type of jacket. Eye make-up to that degree is never acceptable.

Photobucket

Oh, my precious SeungHo. Sweetheart, please please please get rid of that orange hair. It's not sexy on you, not at all. Go back to brown, or red, or HEY! Even black! Go au naturale, pretty please. Other than that, you kind of have it right with the clothes, but whatever that necklace/belt chain thing is just provokes confusion and takes us away from your face and your lips.

I laughed when the camera first focused on G.O. Poor guy has his bangs all in his eyes and he reminded me of one of those furry, mop-looking dogs that can't ever see because their hair grows down in front of their eyes. I mean, not one stylist could have been like "Hey, let's just trim this about 1/4 of an inch"? You can't even see his eye make-up (which is a good thing, but still), except for a few little sparkles peeking through.

Cute little Mir is all grown up and better than ever. I never feel a disappointment with him, he seems to always be able to pull off certain things better than the others. Though he can't pull off the eye make-up. I repeat, eye make-up to that degree is never acceptable.

And I much as I love this man (and if you've been reading this blog long enough, you know I LOVE him), Joon just ... oh, no honey. No, no, no. There's just too much going on here.

Photobucket

I will say, the hair color looks fantastic. Definitely a keeper, please don't ever change it (though I know you will). And of course, his hotness factor is always present. Even if you put a paper bag over his head, you would still know he's hot. But those gloves? No, they aren't really doing it for me. He looks like he just came back from his shift at the wharf unloading fish from the boats. I don't want to think of smelly, dead fish when I look at you, Joon. The necklace is unnecessary.

You're a man wearing a suit. Honey, you don't need a necklace.

Photobucket

EYE MAKE-UP TO THIS DEGREE IS NEVER ACCEPTABLE. I DON'T CARE WHO YOU ARE. I DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE RAIN, IF YOU'RE T.O.P, OR WHOEVER. 2PM DID IT WITH "I'LL BE BACK" AND THEY LOOKED RIDICULOUS. WHY WOULD YOU SUBJECT YOURSELVES TO THIS RIDICULE, MBLAQ?!

Please no more eye make-up! You don't need it to make you look better because you're already hot.

  2. I love this MV. Its like one of the best Ive ever seen. I love the dance, the song, the clothes, the hair, the ballet, the wet raging at the end. The mv is perfect- except for the makeup. WHY HAVE THEY DONE THIS??? KOREAN STYLISTS WAYLT??? I can't wait until this trend is over. Until then I'll just make googoo eyes at my Wet Joon desktop. :D

  3. The eye makeup doesn't bother me--not when there is soaking wet SeungHo wearing white pants. And don't even get me started on the crotch-grab hip move he does at 0:36.

  4. So like I'm watching this and I'm listening to the music and song and I just felt like. Why couldn't they just make a baby maker with this song? They had the music they could have really sing something sexy. But no once again I'm hit with a heartbreak song seriously MBLAQ. Your all wet and sexy in the video then you bust out with I make you cry. WTF! Oh and I'm gonna need them to fire there stylist. Makeup is fine when its very little and simple on men. Okay drag queen make up is not okay.

  5. I though Joon looked amazing in the cry makeup... but then again I could just be thinking that because I think Joon always looks amazing. Usually the eye makeup bothers me but either I'm developing some kind of tolerance/immunity or it was really well done in Cry.

Is it just me or do you all tear up when the boys start crying at the end on th eMV. It makes me go don't cry I'll hold you and reach out for my computer.

  7. I hated the eye makeup in 2pm's I'll be back but in cry I kindof liked it. Though i do agree with you that G.O needed a trim before filming

  8. I completely agree with you about the song. My heart aches when I hear it and I love that they have the ability to do that. <3

AND YES PLEASE SEUNGHO, GO BACK TO YOUR NATURAL COLOR!!! It upsets me that I honestly think his hair color is the reason I don't find him that attractive. UUUUUUUUUUUGH.

Also, LMAO picturing Joon working in a wharf forever now. Thanks TKPA. XD <3

  9. For real, the eye makeup on our male idols has been really ridiculous as of late. And its not even like they stop with the excessive eyeliner, they stick sparkles and other color swatches in the corners and on the lids of their eyes.

At first, I wasn't feeling the song but seeing the video and choreography sucked me into the same boat everyone else is in. Beautiful song.

  11. Dang, shutup about the "eye makeup at this degree" blah blah blah. NOBODY CARES. It's just for the music video -.- they don't live to please you. They're trying to make a living like everyone else, my gosh. Have respect, and don't judge the makeup&fashion artist's creation.

  12. Wow, this was harsh. Eye makeup was a bit surprising, but it was part of the concept. Surprised you didn't criticize the underwater ballet. Or the tight pants.

The eye makeup was bad in I'll Be Back - 2PM BECAUSE it didn't match the concept, but here it went well.

Nothing is wrong with Thunder & Seungho's hair LMAO. Blonde actually looks good on Thunder, and Seungho had his orangeish-brown hair up till their recent comeback. It looks fine. But again, it's a matter of opinion.

And If you really wanted to rag on fashion in kpop MV's, trust me, Cry is far from being the worst fashion. Really now, the necklaces weren't that bad.

  13. Honey, I don't care about your opinion. It's just a MV. Stop judging on how they look. It's not about you, it's not about your opinion either.

  14. 1)Thunder looks fine, his hair is fine. His clothes and accessories are fine. His make-up was messed up..
2)Seungho was fine all the way. His hair is fine, clothes, and accessories were fine.
3)G.O's make-up was okay. I agreed with his hair, but I also felt bad for G.O because he couldn't see through his hair. His clothes and accessories were fine.
4)Mir's make-up was terrible. His hair was okay. His clothes were fine, too his accessories.
5)LJ's hair, make-up, clothes, gloves, and accessories were great.
I have to say, LJ was the best out there.

I also disagree with your opinion on 'eye make-up degree never acceptable' it's getting very annoying. No one wants to hear your garbage on eye make-up degree .. blah blah.
