The Return of TVXQ ... or HoMin

In the past, TVXQ might not have been my absolute favorite out of all the idol groups, but I do have a sneaky little confession: I've always loved Yunho and Max. They were my favorites.

So it makes me really giddy to see this video with just the two of them. I know there is a lot of mixed feelings still involved with this group and its fandom ... but the heart wants what the heart wants. And mine wants some HoMin. (Please don't start commenting saying I'm awful. I already know that I am, but seeing it in print is a bit of a buzz kill).

I never realized how strong my love for fire was until this video. With prior videos, I've always said that starting the entire thing out with the idols drenched in rain (2PM "Without U," BIGBANG "Tell Me Goodbye") or in the shower (MBLAQ "Y") was the proper way to go and could, honestly, never fail.

Then Yunho pulls out the alley in the industrial park with flames going off everywhere at his command, and I'm hooked.

Photobucket

Fire is the new water.

I'm already hooked because of that, but then Max shows his beautiful face with my all-time-favorite, every-idol-should-have-it-because-it-is-amazing hairstyle and I realize that for the rest of this video, I don't even have a fighting chance. Because Yunho took that whip-slash-rope, made it into a lasso, and pulled me in.

Photobucket

I love this song. I love the beat, I love how catchy it is. I love how the words "keep your head dowwwwwwn" keep repeating over and over and over and OVER again in my head. The video was amazing (and dare I say, a hell of a lot better than JYJ's unfortunately and seriously bad video) and just perfection from beginning to end.

Oh, wait. I lied.

There was one itty, bitty little part that ruined everything. Easily forgivable just not quite forgettable. You know what I'm talking about.

These God awful, ridiculous, heinous, atrocious, eye sore to the extreme suits.

Photobucket

It's like they came to America, snuck onto a Native American reservation and stole all the quilts that the blind, elderly women of the tribe spent their entire life weaving, and they have the gnarled, arthritis fingers to prove it, and made those quilts into suits.

Shame on you, HoMin. For stealing the blind Native American ladies' quilts and for having bad fashion sense to think that those suits actually look good.

Shame on you, Yunho, for skinning a fox and wrapping its fur around your shoulders and thinking that it would improve the look of this disaster in fabric.

Photobucket

Shame on you, Max for going along with it and not speaking up. I can see the pain in your eyes because it matches the pain in mine. Literal eye pain.

Photobucket

I'll end this on a good note .... to present to you the sexiest moment of this video (well, one of them, anyway):

Photobucket

And then the most hilarious moment of this video:

Ayy No ...

I heard JYJ's new song with Kanye West a few weeks ago when Louise from billboard.com sent me the article about the boys and their new attempts to break into the Western music market. And I really like the song. So much that I was going to write this long lengthy post about how I was going to give the three former DBSK members a shot and quite possibly begin obsessing over them on the blog (something I know you all have been waiting for).

But then ... I saw the video.

And oh, Lord ... a monkey wrench was flung into the mix and now everything is so ... oh, man.

First off, let me just say that this is 2010. The technology available to us now is amazing, and since this is a South Korean idol group, and let's face it, Korean technology kicks American technology's ass in terms of awesome factor ... I really do expect a high quality music video, complete with awesome effects. If you're going to stand in front of a green screen and have the entire background computer generated, it better be like Avatar standards, okay?

But no ... we get this instead.

Photobucket

Something that looks as tacky and cheesy and Super Junior's "Marry U" video. Not hating on Super Junior in any way, shape, or form, but even for a video made in 2007 it was lacking in the wow-what-awesome-CG factor. And one would think three years later, that maybe we could just get past the fuzzy, lowest-of-the-low quality videos and produce something ... I don't know, awesome?

And was it just me or did anyone else find this video i-n-c-r-e-d-i-b-l-y s-l-o-w? I don't remember the song being that slow when I listened to it, but seeing it with the video and the WTF choreography that felt more like K-Pop Choreo 101 rather than professionals who have been around forever. It was boring and I swear it looked like they were counting. You can see on their faces that they're counting the steps.

Now here comes my bread and butter ... what in the hell were they wearing? What the fuck is that, Jaejoong?

Photobucket

No, seriously? A sheer shirt, styled to look like a tuxedo jacket, some Joon-looking pecs, and a Victorian-era woman's chandalier necklace? If I had to choose what was worse between this and everything Hyun Seung is forced to wear, you'd win by miles, bb.

I want to shoot whoever did this to Micky's hair. I'm a proud supporter of a strict anti-curl movement, and these are like the worst kinds of curls you can imagine. Because they aren't soft and bouncy. I might be able to accept soft and bouncy little ringlets on top of his head.

Photobucket

But it's more like he didn't have time to blow dry or straighten his hair, so now he's left with these waves that just look plain ridiculous. (Also, maybe I'm going through a BIGBANG withdrawl, but am I the only one who sees GD in this frame?)

Oh, Junsu ... I have three words for you.

Photobucket

Nice halter top.

Maybe I will just stick to listening to JYJ for the time being, until they can prove to me otherwise that I can finally have a straight up lustful feeling for them without getting bitch slapped with ridiculous afterward.

Always Keep the Faith Video Messages

It's no secret that I am not the biggest DBSK/TVXQ fan, but I still support them and all of you Cassies. Plus, I'm always happy to help spread the word on projects.

The Project:

Making an international "Always Keep the Faith" video to show our support of TVXQ.

The Guidelines:

1. All videos must be turned in by May 21, 2010 at the latest.

2. ALL videos need to include a flag from the country it's being sent from in the video, whether it's in the background, or being held.

3. Please try to have as many people as possible in the video.

4. Videos should be about 5 seconds long, and all they should say is "Always Keep the Faith." (No other messages, "I love you," "hwaiting," etc...)

5. Make sure it's said in YOUR native language.

Please send all videos to alwayskeepthefaith65@yahoo.com and help spread the word to as many people as possible that we're doing this.

Thanks!

To Get You Through the Weekend

As I was just about to get offline to be productive today, I realized it was Friday. Which means that there is a weekend splendor post coming your way. Max and U-Know from DBSK are gladly willing to help kick off your weekend the right way.

I couldn't decide which picture to use, so I just did both. You're welcome for the double dose of man flesh.

Photobucket

I love this picture of U-Know, because it shows off abs. And pretty much the showing of abs is a mandatory requirement in order to make the weekend posts. (Except for Sex God).

Photobucket

Max looks wonderful the morning after, doesn't he?

Happy weekend!

DBSK Isn't For Me

I don't know what it is. I just can't bring myself to love them, obsess over them, talk dirty about them. DBSK simply isn't for me.

I tried watching videos, and while I laughed at them and thought they were funny ... it wasn't even close to the endless amounts of laughter that Super Junior gets from me. And while their videos are sexy (I won't deny that), I just can't talk the same way about them like I do for Sex God, G-Dragon, Sexy Beast Taek, and Nichkhun. They just don't do it for me.

Their songs are great, though, and I really do enjoy listening to them. Yet they fall really low on the obsession list. But I am an open-minded person, so there is an extreme chance that I will change my mind. If/when that happens, I'll for sure show them the love and affection and not-so-PG action that they deserve.

Photobucket
Sorry, bbs

I did say that I was going to choose one of them for this week's "To Get You Through the Weekend." It's either going to be Max or U-Know. I haven't decided between the two of them yet, as both pictures I located are hella hot and surprisingly sparked many NC-17 comments from me.

DBSK? Yeeaah, I Don't Think So

I posted this last night at 11:53, asking for the help of the Cassiopeias following me on Twitter.

Plenty of people clicked on the link. A total of seventy-two people, actually. Yet my inbox remained empty, my Blackberry email feeling very lonely while charging throughout the course of the night. How could you do that to my poor BB? She was desperately awaiting some DBSK lovin' to keep safe until I awoke.

I even called you out on it. Repeatedly.

Photobucket

You failed me, Cassiopeia. I kind of don't even want to write about DBSK now (because I'm biased and I tend to hold grudges), but I know that at least one person is working on sending me some things of these boys, so at most I'll make next Friday's "To Get You Through the Weekend" about one of them. That's pretty much it.

And yeah, I could have very well dug up all the juicy details about them myself. But I wanted to know why you love them, changing it up instead of telling you why I love them. Sometimes it's nice to switch things around a bit. Big thanks to Mas, who has been obsessing over these boys properly and digging up some fantastic things for me to drool over.

CALLING ALL DBSK FANS!

I've neglected your boys lately. I realize this and I'm sorry. It's just they haven't been doing it for me lately. There hasn't been anything to stand out in my mind except for Hero's prettiness, which I've already talked about.

I want you to change my mind, though. So email me (kpopaddict@live.com) with links to pictures and/or videos. By videos, I don't mean music videos, because "Mirotic" is one of my favorites that I've banned myself from watching because ... well, you already know why. You're DBSK fans, after all. But send me cuts and clips of them WITH ENGLISH SUBS to show me how funny they are. And even if it's just them looking smoking hot, still send it.

Convince me as to why I should be all fan-girl over them. I'm also planning on making next Friday's "To Get You Through the Weekend" about one of the boys.

I'm telling you right now, your convincing better be damn good because BIGBANG'S Taeyang is releasing his single Thursday, and your loves might not be on here much after that.

Get to it. My inbox better be flooded when I wake up in the morning.

I'm Tired of Korean Men Being Prettier Than Me

It's beginning to eat away at my self-esteem.

Photobucket

Hero/Jaejoong from DBSK is one of those guys I'm getting sick of. Don't get me wrong, I love this man, but he's just too damn pretty. No where near the jealousy-invoking-genetic-jackpot-good-looks that is Kim Heechul, though. Although I do think Jae is prettier than Heechul ... in the sense that he actually looks ten times more masculine than Heechul will ever hope to be.

And it's a fantastic thing that Jae knows the balance between pretty and manly, and he does it exceptionally well. This picture is all the proof I need to back up my statement:

Photobucket
You can insert your own dirty remark here.

I swear, I never used to like the pretty boys. I never felt an attraction to them. I was always into the manly, scruffy men. That was until I discovered Cristiano Ronaldo and his perfect Portuguese genes. Thanks, Ronny. You've ruined me.

The K-Pop Addict (Figuratively) Meets DBSK

(I know I said I'd wait until Monday, but I had free time and actually, if you think about it, it is Sunday in some parts of the world right now, and Sunday is only one day away from Monday. My reasoning is justified, thankyouverymuch!)

Before you go jumping down my throat, correcting me on the name, know that since DBSK is how they’re known in the K-Pop world, and as Tohoshinki in the J-Pop world, and because this is a blog about the addiction of K-Pop, I think it’s only fitting that I refer to them by their Korean name. I could just be neutral and use TVXQ, but I feel like being biased right now, so you’re all going to have to deal with me calling them DBSK. I don’t think a group should have three different names, as that is two too many names for my brain to handle. [Yet, learning thirteen names in regards to Super Junior was (hardly) a problem].

Much to the suggestion of some lovely people over at Twitter (thank you, by the way) I checked them out this past weekend. I wanted to do this blog entry a bit earlier, but I needed the proper amount of time to go all fan-girl over them. Plus, I had to have time to properly learn their names and do my “research” on them, which basically entails me endlessly looking up videos on YouTube. That is what actually took the longest for me to do. It’s tough, but someone has to do it, right?

Xiah, Micky, Hero, Max, U-Know

DBSK … Oh, how you completely surprised me.

The songs my Twitter followers suggested were ballads, and truthfully, while I love listening to ballads, I’ve been spoiled and I don’t really like them if my precious Kyuhyun or Yesung aren’t singing them. I listened to “Doushite Kimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimmantandarou” (English translation: “Why Did I Fall in Love With You?”) and loved it. It was a beautiful little ballad, and I think I loved the video even more than the actual song.

Please don’t ask me to say it, because I get tongue-tied as Japanese isn’t necessarily a language my mouth can speak without my brain pausing to think. (Completely irrelevant note: I do know how to say “goodnight” and “remote control” in Japanese, as those aren’t too complicated for my American mouth).

DBSK is made up of Hero, Xiah, Micky, Max, and U-Know. They do have other names, but for the sake of my sanity, I’m just going to go with the easiest names for me to pronounce. And I have a teeny crush formulating on Hero, as I believe he is far prettier than the milky-white-skin-attention-whore that is Kim Heechul. (But I do love Heechul and his inability to shy away from the camera).
Heechul, you have some competition, lovely
I wasn’t one hundred percent sold on DBSK, as I want some songs that will make me want to get out of my chair and dance and not remind me of how much my love life sucks as of late or something that will bring on the water-works. And then I listened to “Mirotic,” as I read on Allkpop (credible source, I know) how the album sold over 500,000 units when it was released last year. I see why.

I like “Mirotic,” because I am a sucker for random English phrases in lyrics. Seriously, if there is even just one word stuck in there somewhere, I love it. (Nothing beats Taekyeon saying, “She’s a bad girl I know / But here I go again / Oh no,” in his deep sexy voice in 2PM’s “Again and Again”).

I also checked out “Wrong Number,” and I think that is my absolute favorite. I'd say it's up there with Super Junior's "Reset" and G-Dragon's "Breathe." Big compliment, as those are the two songs I cannot get enough of as of late. Again, I am a sucker for English in a predominately foreign language song. But more so than the lyrics is the beat and I love love love the choreography. Oh, and major props to whoever styled these boys in this video, because they did an amazing job. Why can’t all stylists pull this off?

And the most important thing about all three videos, the boys look completely sexed up. In “Doushite,” it’s the heartbreaking kind of sexy, the total puppy dog eyes, that makes girls just want to mend their broken hearts with super glue and duct tape and a full-on body massage. “Wrong Number” is the angsty sexy. You know how some guys are just ten times more attractive when they’re angry? Yeah, they totally have that going on.

Before you go thinking I’m shallow for always commenting on the physical appearance, know that all it takes is for me to find one member in the group attractive, and I go all fan-girl-berserk and start listening to everything they ever sang and watching almost every video of them attention-whoring-it-up on Korean television. I will always give credit where credit is due, also commenting on dancing ability, vocal ability, how much they can make me laugh, and if they have caught my attention enough for me to want to obsess over them.

DBSK has definite potential, and I know that if I try and listen to them more, I’ll soon be configuring lists of reasons why I love them. I just need some quality time with the boys. That’s all I’m saying.

So far … definitely good.
Yours,
The K-Pop Addict
